Our setting consists of three playrooms, an office, staff room/ kitchen and a large free flow outside play area which includes a forest school, climbing frame, bikes and more. We also have a smaller outside play area for the under 3`s.
Starlet’s Room-
The birth to 2 years room accommodates for 6 babies daily in a safe, secure and stimulating environment. The babies are cared for by three caring staff that caters for each child's individual needs daily. This room also prepares the children to be developmentally ready to move through into the shining stars room.
Heads Up, Lookers and Communicators (Babies still learning to sit and crawl) – During these first months, young babies react to people and situations with their whole bodies. They are also competent in observing and responding to their immediate environment and communicating with those around them.
Sitters, Standers and Explorers (Babies who have become more mobile) – Once children have become more mobile they explore their environment with more intention. Increasing mobility and language development enable them to find out and understand more about the world.
Shining Stars Room-
The Shining Stars room accommodates up to 15 children aged two to three years per day. They are looked after by 5 caring members of staff, who ensure to provide for each child’s individual needs in an enthusiastic and dedicated manner, carry out preschool activities daily, preparing children for the transition to shooting stars room.
Movers, Shakers and Players - Children begin to show an increasing independence and obvious pleasure in moving, communicating and learning through play. We offer many opportunities for their developmental needs. We also include various other activities such as heuristic play, music and movement, exploratory areas and plenty of opportunity for free play both indoors and outside.
Shooting Stars Room-
The over three year olds room accommodates up to 40 children aged three to five years, of which 8-10 children will be in our forest school cabin per day. They are looked after by 8 caring members of staff, who ensure to provide for each child’s individual needs in an enthusiastic and dedicated manner, carry out preschool activities daily, preparing children for the transition to going to school. They will take part in star school time weekly and forest school activities, using real tools making fires and more.
Walkers, Talkers and Pretenders - Children display a greater competence at moving and talking and pretending. They also show increased confidence in themselves and their skills at making relationships.
We offer daily, a variety of activities such as music and movement, heuristic play, messy activities: arts and crafts, sand and water play, play dough, jelly, beans and many more.
This room also is the base for all meals served throughout the day, home corner, book corner and construction area.
Experimenters, Players and Questioners - At this age children deepen their understanding by playing, talking, observing, planning, questioning, experimenting, testing, repeating, reflecting and responding to adults and to each other, many of the activities will be geared towards the children’s on-going needs once they go onto school, in particular the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
All the children within our care and both play rooms are are given free access into the garden which will provide them with an outdoor extension to their indoor activities on a daily basis.
