Who Are We?
Emma Harris and Laura Rich the owners and managers at Little Stars childcare have been working within nursery settings in Brighton over the past 21 years as nursery managers and Executive manager, caring for babies from birth to children ages up to 8 years. We both are qualified to NVQ level 4 in childcare are A1 assessors to support a learning team and have passed our OFSTED suitable persons interviews. We believe no one is ever perfect and always have room to learn more. We both have completed many childcare related courses such as safeguarding, behaviour management, supporting staff, special educational needs, outdoor play, first aid, health and safety plus many more and we aim to go on many more.
Having both taking part in setting up four other settings for an employee in Brighton that have all been successful, we had a dream of setting up our own business as working mums in the area. With great knowledge and understanding of what other working parents needs for their own little stars whilst they have to work. In 2012 we started the dream of doing this for ourselves and our families rather than for someone else. We understand in this day and age most parents have to work as and when they can and if we could help this we providing childcare on an hourly and sessions rate on various days of the week, providing meals and toiletries to meet all these needs, it would make a massive difference in the lives of working parents and their little stars.
• Emma had her first child in 2008 and her second in 2011(both boys) and this reinforced the passion for having a setting of her own where parents can drop their child off and not have to worry about their little ones whilst they have to work. "I truly believe that any child should be treated like your own and given the opportunity in early life to learn through child lead interests whilst having high levels of well being and involvement in a fun and stimulating environment. I love puddle jumping, walks in the woods, getting messy in corn flour, play dough and face painting with my little stars."
• Laura had her first child in 2010 (a boy), her second in 2015 (a girl) and has a step daughter of 11 years old. She also has this passion for allowing children to take safe risks and learn through their experiences in life. "I believe all children should be allowed to make choices and be given equal opportunities in life. I love cooking, playing in the park, singing, painting and swimming with my little stars."
• Russell Brooks the third partner is Emma’s dad and although is not qualified in early years he has spent the past 8 years as our nurseries maintenance man. Ensuring a safe and secure setting for every little star that has been within our care. Russell also manages within the NHS for over 20 years and manages a ladies football team in the Brighton area.
