Shooting Stars is our pre-school based room, we care for children aged 3 – 5 years. Within there we focus on supporting the children with their independence and supporting them in developing their own thinking skills. We encourage high risk taking by encouraging the children to build dens, climb building walls and even starting fires within our Forest school. Shooting Stars room take a more structured approach to their development whilst still learning from play-based activities. The children all have an equal opportunity to learn and have support from the EYFS and their own key person.

Within the Shooting Stars room, the children participate in Star School. We help the children become ‘school ready’ by having strong social skills, can cope emotionally with being separated from their parent, are relatively independent on their own personal care, have a curiosity about the world and a desire to learn. Our goals are to support the children and parents/carers in having a smooth transition to school.
We use the website Pacey for guidance in how to support our children best. There are also useful tips for parents/carer. This can be found here.
